What is Reiki?
Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.
Mikao Usui rediscovered the root system now called Reiki. His tradition and methods were passed through several grandmasters of Reiki. Today, Reiki takes many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.
Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation. Many people use Reiki for wellness. Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.
Reiki goes to where it is needed the most; the practitioner is just the conduit. The energy works its way through the body’s energy channels affecting both the organs and chakras. Reiki works for the greatest good of your higher self, whether that be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual healing. Pay attention to your thoughts as Reiki often brings buried things up to the surface for healthy processing. Also, as your vibrational rate increases, it causes the toxins stored in your body to be released into your bloodstream, which starts a cleansing and detoxifying process. While your body processes these toxins for removal, you may experience minor aches and pains or even flu-like symptoms. If this happens to you, drink lots of water, eat lighter meals, and get lots of rest. It’s just your body is cleansing as part of the healing process, so this is a good sign!

About Your Session:
I work from a Reiki Treatment & Sound Healing Room that I created just for my clients in my home providing my clients with a peaceful, relaxed and personal atmosphere.
First time clients will have time to fill in a client information form and a brief consultation.
The treatment consists of varying numbers of hand positions starting at the head and ending at the feet followed by a sound healing and Sacred Soul Healing Alignments.
During Reiki it’s possible feel anything from a little heat, tingling and lightness to a sense of deep peace and well being. The feelings people can feel are endless and can be different from session to session. If a person has a lot of emotional release during a treatment, then the hand position most used is placed on the head and/heart. It is a personal choice if the client wants to talk or not. It does not affect the Reiki healing process which happens on a much deeper level.
Clients can expect to experience a wide range of feelings during their session. Reiki tends to feel warm and profoundly relaxing. You may feel the hands of the Reiki practitioner become hot or tingly. Some people describe a floating sensation and some see colors, shapes, or lights during the session; some experience tingling, waves of energy, bubbles, hot or cold temperature changes, or just feel very relaxed. Some people fall asleep. Some experience emotional release, both negative and positive. There is no expected experience -- a Reiki treatment is unique for each individual who receives it.
In some cases, the effects of Reiki are not immediately noticeable. For example, when dealing with emotional issues, Reiki helps you find inner peace and strength. Over time, it prepares you to solve/address the issue and overcome denial, shame, and/or fear. It increases your awareness and helps you prepare to bring the issue up to the surface. When addressing long term or chronic issues, it often takes several sessions to work you back into balance. For a long term or serious injury physical pain issue, Reiki may give the appearance of making the condition worse before getting better, this is a great sign the treatments are working. Most clients will experience a reduction in pain by their third session.
At the end of the session, clients are encouraged to take a few moments to slowly sit up and rest before getting off the table. Some clients may experience a slight disorientation or dizziness when transitioning from deep relaxation back to the real world, so it is important to take a few moments to "collect yourself" before leaving, take time to enjoy your deep state of relaxation before slowly coming back into full awareness. You may be too relaxed to drive, so allow 20 minutes to be fully awake before driving and it’s advisable to go home and relax, because this ensures the maximum benefit from the treatment.
As the Reiki continues to work in your body and re-balance your energy, expect your body to detoxify. If your body is releasing toxins into your bloodstream faster than they can be processed, it may trigger detoxification symptoms. This is temporary as your body adjusts itself back into balance. Be sure to drink plenty of water to assist the detoxification process.
Some people may experience one or more of the following healing and detoxification symptoms after a session:
Frequent urination and/or bowel movements
Feeling emotional, emotional release, or emotional shifts
Crying for no apparent reason
Feeling on top of the world or buzzing with energy
Fatigue, feeling overtired, needing to sleep or rest
Sleeping 8-12 hours overnight
Feeling hot or cold
Skin detox symptoms such as blemishes or pimples
Traveling aches and pains throughout body
Temporary "Flu-like" symptoms
Headaches, dizziness, or nausea
* As with any healing process, Reiki helps your body release toxins so it’s highly recommend to drink extra water to help flush the toxins out of your system.
The symptoms listed above are all positive signs that your body is bringing itself back into balance. It is also normal if you do not experience any of the symptoms above. In fact, many people don't have any symptoms. If you experience any symptoms for an extended period of time after a session, know that b it was not caused by Reiki as Reiki detox symptoms are temporary in nature and typically dissipate within a few days.
*Reiki is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
